[sticky post] Masterlist | Fanworks

Jul. 1st, 2010 | 12:00 am
mood: geekygeeky

Currently, none of my posted works are here at my journal.
Each link goes to the original thread in which I contributed, found at comms around LJ.
So far, everything has been a fill of a prompt, haha... 6^^;;
Eventually these (and others?) will be available on AO3 -- once I overcome procrastination.
As of June 2014, all of the following fanfics are now also readable over on my AO3 account.

I own the writing and drawing. Please do not post or archive elsewhere without my permission.
I do not own the characters, and I am not making a profit off of them.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to message me. ♫

I wonder if I should make a list of all my prompts, too. The c-f ones alone would take forever, ahaha... ha.

HTTPS LJ is back?

Oct. 9th, 2017 | 08:28 pm
mood: curiouscurious
music: "The Sky is a Neighborhood" ~ Foo Fighters

Hello, long time no see. I haven't been here in over a month. 6^^;; I usually lurk around comment_fic at the very very least, but I was busy right from September 1st through to yesterday. Wasn't online much at all in general. Wasn't even home much (or had the energy) to do anything more than eat, sleep, and clean... So many geeky things to catch up on at home. @__@;; The past five weeks involved a lot of geeking out in public at various events instead, haha. Been far too familiar with trains lately...

Anyway. I stopped by to check in, and I noticed that secure HTTPS connections work again! Somehow! o__O That's a good sign, right? I think LJ quietly (or so they thought) took it away at the start of the year, and then quietly brought it back at some point recently. I don't know if there's been any sort of announcement about it. Could've happened in August or earlier, but I probably didn't try any HTTPS URLs then.

On a completely unrelated note, I thought I got this Foo Fighters song out of my head a while ago, but it decided to come back today. XD I had a nice and completely different Japanese song on my mind this weekend, too... Ah, well. ~_^

Heeeeeeeyyyyyyy... there.

Jan. 23rd, 2017 | 11:13 pm
mood: coldcold
music: Final Fantasy VII music in my head... from outta nowhere.

Just wanted to let you know that I'm alive. 6^^;; I'm not entirely sure where I've been, to be honest...

For my fellow comment_fic members, I haven't abandoned you. I simply haven't been able to write anything worth sharing for... let's just say a while. 6>_>;; I see the daily post sometimes, but I'm not deep in a fandom right now to prompt anything specific. It's hard to inspire others to write when you can't find inspiration for yourself. I miss y'all, and it's my own fault for being terrible at checking up on your personal journals. I do believe classics_lover recently celebrated a birthday, yay~ Hope you enjoyed it! ❤

Fandom-y things:

After many years, I've finally read the first book in the How to Train Your Dragon series (plus two short stories). :D I knew the animated universe was very different from the original, but wow... The books are definitely for upper elementary and preteen boys, haha. It's cute and funny, though. I wouldn't mind reading the others -- if I can find them. That's what stopped me before (and money, of course). The copy I read was borrowed from a friend, and she doesn't have the other books.

In December, I officially joined the fan club for a Japanese instrumental trio that I've liked (loved ♫) for over two years now. I was on the fence about it for a while, despite it being free membership, because being a fan in Japan is very different from being a fan in the U.S. @__@;; There's more devotion to it. Not rabid obsession, but... well, I guess it's still obsession, haha, but there's a reason that fans (of music and sports more so than anime and video games) are often called "supporters." The ones with the time and money are like patrons.

I started playing video games on Steam at exactly the wrong time: when my winter vacation was ending. X__x;; I'm a freakin genius. At least I finally played Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and then also beat Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt. I could go back and get the Steam achievements for the former and cure that one person I couldn't cure in the latter, but... I finally started playing Dragon Age: Origins. XD;;;; (DON'T GET EXCITED. I'M NOT THAT FAR. I HAD TO GO BACK TO WORK. Also I'm crazy and I've replayed far too many conversations already, ugh why self.) I bought the Ultimate Edition with Awakening and all the DLC during a Steam sale in September. I also bought other games during the winter sale. 6>_>;;;

Speaking of things I don't have time for...

I'll backdate a "what I'm watching" post for December. January is easy so far. I haven't watched a daaaaamn thing. :D (Some interesting movies and series came out in the States, and then of course certain British shows [or maybe just that one show] returned... Japan is either really behind or not getting stuff for the foreseeable future. T^T)

The Australian Open is crushing all of my tennis hopes and dreams. It loves being the least predictable major tournament... I haven't seen much of it live, but what I did see involved Murray (world #1!) losing and Nishikori losing (and Djokovic lost earlier in the day and Kerber [world #1!] lost later in the evening)... Kei lost to Federer, however, so even Japanese fans aren't too terribly sad. >:P This evening, I listened to more than watched Nadal beat Monfils. Rafa is stuck shouldering much of my emotional involvement in the men's singles. Feds and Wawrinka have the rest.

So! What else?

Last week, received confirmation that I will, in fact, be staying in Japan (at least) through the summer of next year! ^_^ I'm currently in the middle of Year 3. Now, if only the form had said something specific about my high schools... It only mentioned my prefecture (state)... That's the only worrying thing at the moment. I could be transferred. Asdfghjkl. No thank you, Board of Education Powers That Be.

What I'm Watching: October 2016 ~ November 2016

Oct. 7th, 2016 | 10:02 pm
mood: tiredtired
music: a mix of Japanese music in my head

After "I'm fine," the second most common response I hear when I ask students how they're doing is "I'm tired." (#3 is "I'm sleepy.") All through September and this first week of October, I get it, man. I totally get it.
=__=;;
@__@;;
x__X;;
Work has been busy, both inside and outside of class, but in a good way. Please ignore the giant stack of paper on my desk like I've been, okay thanks.

Besides that, I've already been to two different parts of Tokyo on two separate days of the past week. Along the way, I bought stuff I wanted (new CD! new manga volume!) instead of stuff I need (layering clothes, shoes/boots).

This weekend (which is three days, because Japan is awesome like that), I'll be on the train for a while again... but bound for Kanagawa! >:P It seems like I've been all over the Kanto region in the past six weeks. How did that happen? Then next weekend, it's back to Tokyo for a concert (and another new album!). And in two weeks, I'll be on an airplane! I'm going to visit home for for the first time in a little over a year.

[ ETA Nov. 14 ]
I'm just gonna make this a two-month post, because I'm feeling too lazy to figure out what I watched in each month. >:P I wasn't jet-lagged in the States (probably because I was too busy/active to be), but dude, when I got back to Japan... I've been busy here, too, for the past week or so.

What I'm Watching: September 2016

Sep. 11th, 2016 | 05:25 pm
mood: tiredtired
music: early 'NSYNC in my head

It's weird to think that my French I class and I were watching live news from New York fifteen years ago today. It's less weird to me to be out of the country for the third anniversary in a row (and the fourth total). The weirdest thing, though -- and my friends and I realized this some time ago -- is the fact that high school students now are too young to remember 9/11. There are 9th graders who were born after it.

Anyway. On a less serious note... about teenagers elsewhere... partly...

Bunkasai (school culture festival) weekend was great, but it wiped me out, haha. It's amazing how the students kept up their energy. A good number of them were still very much alive during the closing act of the kouyasai (after party). Thankfully, after that ended last night, I got my second wind and could enjoy an informal get-together with a few teachers. A lot of credit goes to the nice weather and cool evening breeze. My love for autumn probably stems from my hatred of summer. >:P

Unrelated side note: due to certain other events this month, my brain might possibly be off in video game land and tennis land for a while.

What I'm Watching: August 2016

Aug. 6th, 2016 | 11:30 am
mood: embarrassedembarrassed
music: Japanese commentary + Brazilian music on TV

In all my crazy lately, I completely forgot about the Olympics... 6^^;; Luckily, TV Asahi is rebroadcasting the opening ceremony (I just missed it on NHK). Hopefully I'll have time to watch more than tennis... and keep track of some daily news. I'm sure I'll be relying on my social media friends for the big stories, ahaha. I'm terrible at that stuff.

Currently Watching
Brooklyn Nine-Nine s3 ➔ ep6
Kyoukai no Rinne [s2] ➔ ep44
Major Crimes s5 ➔ ep9 (+ Identity ➔ ep9 -- no ep8?)

The Ever-Lurking Wild Card
ZE TENNIS (from Rio to the States to the US Open)

Finished Watching
Baby Steps s2 (no s3... TT_TT)
Peaky Blinders s2
Sailor Moon Crystal (no s4?)

** Movies
Dredd
High-Rise
The Jungle Book (2016, finally ...and 1994, maybe for the first time this century. XD)
Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV (in theater, in Eng, plus the Jpn subs were helpful)
Locke
MS Gundam Thunderbolt: December Sky
Pride (2014)

Things the Olympics have taught me this year:
I don't understand how judo is scored at all
Jumping up from landing flat on your stomach on a trampoline is a thing
Synchronized swimming is intense and kinda frightening

A little traction...

Aug. 3rd, 2016 | 08:03 pm
mood: hopefulhopeful
music: "Headlock" ~ Imogen Heap

Fannish things in the past ten days or so that have made me more... like me, I suppose:

Lawless
Tom Hardy the American bootlegger beating the shit out of people
Gary Oldman the American gangster
Watching the Detectives
Cillian Murphy the American movie fanatic being crazy (and his pale... *hand wave* everything)
Peaky Blinders
The music in Peaky Blinders, esp Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds (and the obsession with Jack White, haha)
Cillian Murphy beating the shit out of people 's damn gorgeous eyes
Inception fandom stuff
Tom Hardy's damn soft voice
Cillian Murphy in a GQMF suit
Joseph Gordon-Levitt's quiet efficiency (and dry sarcasm)
The courtroom scenes in The Dark Knight Rises
Cillian Murphy in glasses (and a perfectly imperfect suit) -- aka, the Honorable Judge Crane
Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon (briefly)
Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake (briefly)
...not so much Tom Hardy as Bane (even briefly), b/c that still weirds me out a little
HARRY POTTER (and no spoilers!)
Tokyo for a day:
+ A cool (and free) artwork exhibition (including a surprise one featuring Tom Hardy)
+ A long overdue English bookstore visit
+ J. K. Rowling(-approved) and John le Carré books (and Fantastic Beasts in Japanese, too, out of curiosity)
+ A live performance of a band I love and haven't seen since Christmas, up close and super cheap
+ Beignets and coffee (yes, this is a fandom, called Café du Monde ~_^)
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
♫ "It's guy love between two guys..." ♫
Post-script-reading conversation and the full spectrum of feels (no specifics from me here)
Imogen Heap somehow overriding the damn self-depressing song that's been stuck in my head for weeks
Jamie Parker as Harry Potter
Everything The History Boys, but especially the French scene
Jamie Parker playing piano (and wearing glasses)
Samuel Barnett singing (and reciting Thomas Hardy -- haha, y'know, the other one)
Frances de la Tour (you thought it was all dudes, huh?) being awesome
Now, if I could just find the Vicious series finale special...

Although I still haven't made things -- writing, drawing, even planning -- my mind's in a better place now.
...I almost used "mindset," but Mr. Hector doesn't care for it. 6>_>;;
...A bit like how Arthur would've wanted a little specificity about the new HP story. 6>_>;;;;
Oh my gods, Arthur the HP geek. He would be. That Slytherclaw.
Guh. Fandom brain. You obviously miss me. I know Kylo Ren and General (ARMITAGE) Hux didn't break you. You've survived worse than the (evil, dirty, cracktastic) likes of them.

♫ "You know you're better than this." ♫

Stuck.

Jul. 23rd, 2016 | 12:55 pm
mood: discontentdiscontent

If I had been marking each day I felt not good, then this year would be full of black X's... I wouldn't do that anyway, because then I'd be needlessly afraid the bad would outnumber the good, and I already overthink and over-worry in general.

It's been especially bad as of late. I have plenty of things I can do, not to mention a few things I should do, but I don't. I can't find the motivation.

I can't make things. I can't focus long enough to learn things.

I waste time all the time, that's nothing new, but now I feel it. There's something I could be should be doing. My productivity is stuck. I'm not sure what I would count as productive now, anyway.

I can blame part of it on the summer. I've never really liked summer, and it's especially hot and not constantly air-conditioned here. I know this predates the mind-melting heat, however.

The strongest feeling I've had this week that resembled purpose was the urge to clean my apartment. Not so much the disinfect and sparkle kind as the declutter and destroy kind. It's Saturday afternoon, and I haven't done a damn thing about it.

All I know is that I want to talk to people, but topics and people are hard to (easily, spontaneously) find. It's tiring to initiate conversations. It's tiring to think about it.

Maybe what's missing are comfortable silences with close company. That familiarity.

What I'm Watching: April 2016 ~ July 2016

Apr. 10th, 2016 | 08:20 pm
mood: sleepysleepy

I think it's safe to say that I've escaped the hold that Star Wars had on me for a while there. Now gaming is trying to make a comeback, thanks to Steam tempting me with sales and randomly deciding to un-region-block certain free MMOs... not to mention me finally buying a (cheap) PC controller this weekend. 6^^;;
March was tiring outside of work, and April is busy at work. Some nights, extra sleep will probably outweigh anything else.
